Adoptable Pets

In an abundance of caution for the animals in our care, the shelter staff, and potential adopter, until further notice the Montville Animal Shelter is following a "no-contact" foster-to-adopt program. If you are interested in participating in this program, please fill out an adoption application (see below under Applications and Agreements), then email the completed application to Animal Control Officer Gail Strumph at

The Animal Control Officer will review your application, and once it is approved, a Montville Animal Shelter representative will contact you by phone to discuss our available pets, and which one that would be the best match for you. Considerations include, but are not limited to: disposition and needs of the animal, whether or not there are any other companion animals in the home, number/ages of other family members, and living arrangements. Once a companion pet is chosen, the potential adopter would then the foster agreement (see below) and email the completed form to the Shelter. A Shelter representative will then set up an appointment date and time for you to pick up the chosen pet with COVID-19 health and safety instructions. A week or two later, a Shelter representative will contact you by phone for a follow-up conversation to see how the foster arrangement is going, and if agreed upon by both the Shelter and the potential adopter, the foster will be finalized into a permanent adoption with a "no-contact"  with forms being submitted via email, and with a "no-contact"  procedure to process adoption paperwork and fees.
