Effective immediately, based upon the direction of the Montville Township Office of Emergency Management Coordinator in conjunction with the Montville Township Health Department, the following actions related to the Montville Township operations shall be instituted to promote social distancing and for the safety and well-being of our residents as it relates to the novel Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19).

Indoor and Outdoor Facilities for Recreation Sponsored Programs/Activities

March 14, 2020 through Friday, March 27, 2020, all indoor and outdoor facilities where recreation sponsored programs or activities are held will be closed to the public.  We will continue to monitor the situation during this time period, and we will reassess and make a determination on or before Friday, March 27, 2020 as to whether a continued closure is necessary.

Senior House

March 16, 2020 through Friday, March 27, 2020, the Senior House will be closed to the public.  This supersedes any prior notification regarding activities at the Senior House.  The only exception is the Morris County Nutrition Program.  Curbside pickup for the Meals on Wheels program will be coordinated by Nancy Mertz, Director of Social Services - (973) 331-3378.   We will continue to monitor the situation during this time period, and we will reassess and make a determination on or before Friday, March 27, 2020 as to whether a continued closure is necessary.

Meetings of Township Boards/Commissions/Committees (with the exception of the Township Committee)

Monday, March 16, 2020 through Friday, March 27, 2020, all Montville Township official meetings of the boards/commissions/committees will be canceled.  The only exception is the Township Committee, who will continue to meet to conduct official Township business.  We will continue to monitor the situation during this time period, and we will reassess and make a determination on or before Friday, March 27, 2020 as to whether a continued cancellation is necessary.

Outside Organizations

Monday, March 16, 2020 through Friday, March 27, 2020, all activities held by all outside organizations in Township buildings and facilities will be suspended. This supersedes any prior notification regarding use of our buildings and facilities.   We will continue to monitor the situation during this time period, and we will reassess and make a determination on or before Friday, March 27, 2020 as to whether a continued suspension is necessary.

Montville Township Library

For now, the Library will remain open.  On Monday, March 16, 2020, there may be a follow up statement regarding their operational procedures.

Montville Township Town Hall

At this time, Town Hall will remain open, because it is vital to the operations of our community during this pandemic event.  However, in an effort to limit potential exposure to our public servants, promote social distancing, and to protect their safety and well-being as much as humanly possible, we would kindly ask our residents and the public at large to limit coming to the municipal building unless it is an urgent matter.  We would strongly recommend taking care of your business with Montville Township using email, telephone, through the website, using the yellow mailbox located in the municipal parking lot, etc.  This request shall remain in effect until further notice, and remember, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

While we understand these imposed restrictions are an inconvenience to our normal course of life, at this point it would be most beneficial for all us to remain calm and rational as we work through this together.
