Vanessa Freire, Health Officer

The Health Department is headed by the Health Officer, and is responsible for a wide array of public health, safety and environmental areas including:

Animal Control - operation/maintenance of the animal shelter, animal control functions, and enforcement of state and municipal ordinances.

Environmental Health - investigation of public and environmental health complaints, inspections of licensed businesses and programs, and enforcement of state and municipal ordinances.

Public Health Nursing - communicable disease investigations, contact tracing, wellness checks, screenings, clinics, and vaccinations.

Vital Statistics/Administration - birth, marriage, death certificates; marriage, domestic partnership, civil union licenses; business licenses, Dial-A-Ride, Board of Health meetings and communications, management/oversight of department personnel and activities, monthly and annual reporting of department activities to Board of Health and Township Committee, and accounts payable and receivable.
